In 2000, we introduced Hartz® ADVANCED CARE Brand® Flea & Tick Drops Plus+ for Dogs and Puppies. This formulation uses ingredients Phenothrin and (S)-methoprene. Phenothrin, an adulticide product is effective in killing and preventing adult fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes. The other key ingredient is (S)-methoprene, an Insect Growth Repellant or IGR which kills flea eggs, thereby breaking the flea lifecycle. The cat formulation was the first and still the only flea, tick, mosquito and flea egg preventative available. The combination of these two ingredients offers the broadest spectrum of protection of any flea and tick treatment available today.
