But don\u2019t let the name fool you - cat fleas bite cats, dogs and people, too.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>What Does a Flea Look Like?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Fleas are small (about 2 mm long), brown, wingless insects<\/li>\n<li>They have laterally compressed bodies that allow them to move swiftly through fur.<\/li>\n<li>Their legs are adapted for jumping and grasping onto their host.<\/li>\n<li>Fleas can jump vertically up to seven inches and horizontally thirteen inches.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Why Do Fleas Bite?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div id=\"attachment_34479\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-34479\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-34479\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/flea-facts-2.jpg\" alt=\"Flea Facts - Fleas and flea dirt in dog hair.\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-34479\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Fleas feed on blood and excrete dark, fecal pellets called \"flea dirt.\"<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Fleas feed on blood, digesting only small amounts, and excreting the remainder as small, dark, fecal pellets called \u201cflea dirt.\u201d<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: revert;
